INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECTS SEMESTER 2: PROJECT 3: MEMORABILIA STORE FINAL REVIEW AND ENVIRONMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY FINAL

In the 3rd project for Interior Design Projects 1, we were tasked to design a memorabilia store promoting the music genre chosen, while incorporating the design style given. For mine, it was based on the music genre "Punk" and design style "Organism".

The store was designed based on the few keywords chosen from both Punk and Organism; rough, wild, dynamic, and fluid. Based on these keywords, the inspiration for the design came from the idea of a cave as Punk is seen as an underground movement (non-mainstream) and using the cave design enhances the vision of it as a music genre that isn't popular with the common media.

The shop was named The Black Sheep, as the idea behind the name was because Punk promoted individuality and being the black sheep means that the person is different from the others, aligned with the ideology of Punk. And a sheep was used to tie it back together with the organism theme of the project as well.

The product that was chosen to be sold (besides the music albums) is the jacket. As the jacket is a staple in Punk fashion, hence it is a major identifier for the Punk subgenre. Proposed also is the idea for individual customisation of the jacket based on the D.I.Y. aesthetics of the Punk style.

INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECTS SEMESTER 2: PROJECT 3: MEMORABILIA STORE CRIT SESSION

This is the Final Crit for the 3rd Project in which we were required to design a memorabilia store based on the music genre and design style that was given.

The music genre that was given to me was Punk, while the design style was Organism. Based on those two I have came up with a design of the store with a concept of it being a cave. The idea stems from the music genre being an underground movement and isn't very mainstream media.

INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECTS SEMESTER 2: PROJECT 2: COMPACT LISTENING BOOTH

In this project, we were tasked in coming up with a design of a compact listening booth based on our music genre. The compact listening booth has to include the concept based on the activity and body language of the listener of the music, as well as mechanisms that is able to make the booth compact when not in use; like hinges, folding, sliding, nesting, and etc.

For my design of the compact booth, the concept was derived from the dance styles and movement when listening to Punk rock music. These are pogo, moshing and skanking. The idea behind the shape of the compact booth is based on the keywords of wild/rough and movement

The mechanisms used for the compact booth are hinges, nesting, folding, sliding and assembling.

INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECTS SEMESTER 2: PROJECT 1: RHYTHM WALL

In this part of the project, we were tasked to produce a feature wall based on the musical characteristic of our music genre. For mine, I was supposed to produce a feature wall with the character of Punk Rock music.

The 3 keywords that I have chosen to work on based on the musical characteristic of Punk Rock are;  RAW, REBELLIOUS and PASSIONATE.

The raw character of the music is represented by the uneven edges of the surface of the wall. This is in contrast to the finished straight surfaces of normal walls.

The rebellious character is portrayed by the asymmetrical design of the wall and the barbed wires. The asymmetrical design of the wall portrays the rebellious character as it isn't common for a wall to have two sides to be completely opposites. And the barbed wires, having sharp edges and spikes sticking out of the sides, show the more edgy side of the character.

The passionate character is portrayed by the large tagline "Fuck the System", as well as the interlacing barbed wires. The tagline portrays their passionate struggle in gaining their freedom from the authority. The interlacing barbed wires form linking bonds which are shared and promote the passion in each other as well as their struggle.

INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECTS SEMESTER 2: PROJECT 1: INFOBOARD

For the first part of the project 1 for Interior Design Projects 1 class, we were required to work in a group of 5 people to come up with an infoboard based on the given music genre. Our theme for the project was Punk Rock.

Prior to the execution of the board design and ideas, we did individual research to get a better understand the music culture as well as the music style of Punk Rock music. After that, we discussed and came out with ideas for the layout and design for the board that we would use. In the end, we decided on a layout using a tartan cloth backing and some cut-and-paste aesthetics. The idea behind the design was that we tied it back to the Punk aesthetics where things were DIY and the sound of the music were raw and wild, and their ideology of rejecting the conventional beauty.

For the execution phase of the project, we divided ourselves into different areas of works. I worked mainly on the illustrations of the board, and choosing the information needed to be placed in the board, as well as overlooking the entire process from start to finish. Giving creative input when needed. Other members of the group worked on other parts of the board like the titles and subtitles, the acquiring of materials, layout, and aesthetics of the board.

DESIGN COMMUNICATION SEMESTER 1: ASSIGNMENT 13: MODEL MAKING

For this assignment we were taught on the method of producing a model based on a specified skill. Referring to a plan and elevation of a house from our lecturer, we were required to produce a model of it in a group of 4. Then, the model is to be taken photo of and composed in a layout, with the same title "My Dream House" as the previous assignment.

DESIGN COMMUNICATION SEMESTER 1: ASSIGNMENT 12: PRESENTATION LAYOUT

For this assignment we were taught on the basics of producing a presentation layout. The requirement for this assignment is to produce a layout with the basic title of "My Dream House". This assignment is also a test in our abilities to render with markers.

DESIGN COMMUNICATION SEMESTER 1: ASSIGNMENT 11: ONE-POINT AND TWO-POINT PERSPECTIVE

This assignment we were taught on one-point and two-point perspective. We were required to draw a grid for each of the perspectives and also to include 6 blocks in the grid. This is to enable us to understand on how the perspective works when dealing with a drawing with a set scale.

DESIGN COMMUNICATION SEMESTER 1: ASSIGNMENT 10: OBLIQUE DRAWING

For this assignment we were required to produce an oblique drawing of a shape with plan and elevation provided. We have learned that for an oblique drawing, the angle used from the horizontal plane to the vertical plane can be at 45 degrees at both sides or 30 degrees at one side and 60 degrees at another.

DESIGN COMMUNICATION SEMESTER 1: ASSIGNMENT 9: ISOMETRIC SKILL TEST

This is our first skill test on isometric drawing. For this, we were given a set amount of time to produce an isometric drawing of an object with only its plan and elevation provided to us.

DESIGN COMMUNICATION SEMESTER 1: ASSIGNMENT 8: PLAN, ELEVATION & SECTION

This assignment is an introduction to producing a plan, elevation and section drawing. The drawings were made using a specific scale according to a reference given to us by our lecturers. Total required to be done for this assignment are 2 plans; ground floor plan and first floor plan, 2 sections; section X-X and section Y-Y (based on the plan), 1 elevation.

DESIGN COMMUNICATION SEMESTER 1: ASSIGNMENT 7: ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTION 2

For this assignment, similar to the previous one, we were taught on orthographic projections. However, for this particular assignment, we were required to produce an orthographic projection drawing based on an actual 3D object. The first part of this assignment was to create an orthographic projection drawing based on a block letter given and the second part was to create an orthographic projection drawing based on an object that we can find.
